SUPERVISED ACCESS FAMILY WORKER  (CASUAL / RELIEF)

Family Counselling Centre – Sarnia-Lambton invites applications from motivated, organized and respectful professionals to be a Casual/Relief worker as part of our Family Worker team.  The team ensures a safe, neutral and child-focused environment for separated families to have visits and exchanges with their child(ren).  The hours for this position will vary on a week to week basis based upon the needs of the program, but the Centre currently operates on Wednesday and Friday evenings and Saturday and Sunday during the day.  For more information on the program, please see our website at www.familycounsellingctr.com

The Family Worker will ensure that visits and exchanges are safe for all family members by monitoring and keeping accurate and thorough documentation of visits and exchange and by ensuring that family connections are maintained for the benefit of the child(ren).  The ideal candidates will possess the following knowledge and skills:

  • Post-secondary education (preferably Social Service or Child & Youth Worker)

  • 3 to 5 years relevant experience working with children & families

  • Current First Aid and CPR

  • Experience in child development and children’s mental health

  • Demonstrated ability to defuse volatile situations

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
